This drawing was an experiment for me.

My drawings typically take between 50 and 80 hours to complete.  As a young artist who is looking to sell his work, this is a problem because I cannot justify the kind of price for this amount of time.  My goal with this piece was to complete the drawing as fast as possible.  I finished this one in around 45 hours.

What's interesting is that the car only took around half the time - the rest was spent on the background.  In previous drawings I have drawn cars with a bland, showroom-style background (lmomjian.deviantart.com/art/Po…, but I am trying to move away from this simplicity and lack of interest.  Drawing a car is fine, but drawing it an environment gives the piece artistic quality.

To get the background, I took the car and transplanted it into a photo of a garage. Here are the two references I used:
